We are currently recruiting for a company that has historically been focused on the research, development and incubation of new technologies. With an increasing number of high value and high-tech projects, the company is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer with a hands-on approach and extensive project management experience to drive the ongoing development of its key projects and ensure that the deliverables are achieved within agreed timescales. 
 
Working with a team of in-house engineers and external partners, the successful candidate will be expected to integrate fully into the team to deliver high profile projects, creating close collaboration between Design, Technical & Commercial. They will be expected to go above and beyond, roll up their sleeves and work ‘hands on’ to meet their targets. The role will report to and work closely with the Solutions Manager.
 
Key Duties:
  • To translate the Solutions Manager/Executive strategy into actionable and measurable tasks
  • To establish full job specifications to enable creation of full & detailed project brief
  • To undertake sufficient analysis to ensure the solution proposed is fit for purpose
  • To liaise with a range of stakeholders including clients and third-party suppliers regarding specifications, changes and improvements
  • To work with cross-functional teams to ensure that requirements are being executed
  • To ensure that Gitlab, Monday and other management software programmes are current and maintained, with timescales and job-specific actions adhered to
  • To provide regular ad hoc and formal reports as requested by the Executive Team
  • To keep abreast of the latest innovations in all relevant areas
  • Where applicable, to assist with the identification of new projects to deliver the Company’s commercial imperatives
Essential Qualifications:
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (Embedded Programming /Electronics Engineering)
  • Knowledge of electronics programming including FPGA (preferred)   
  • Ability to lead multiple complex technology solutions
  • Experience of managing multi-skilled teams (internal and external)
  • Experience of dealing with academic partners
  • Logical stepwise thinking and planning
  • Clear communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff
  • High attention to detail
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Formal Project Management qualification - Prince 2 or similar (preferred)
  • Good understanding of printed electronics (preferred)
  • Knowledge of coding (esp Python C++)
  • A willingness to build and maintain positive working relationships and to share information with others
  • The ability to cope with the pressure of strict deadlines
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to turn a complex task into a series of easily understood steps
  • Clear and concise communication skills (oral & written)
  • Commercial awareness
  • Fast learner of new skills
  • Ability to travel and spend nights away (international and domestic)
